IFFI 2023: Nomination for Best Web Series (OTT) Award begins, know when the award will be given

IFFI 2023: Applications have been invited for the first edition of the Best Web Series (OTT) Awards at the 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). This information has been given in a press release of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The winner will be announced at the film festival to be held in Goa from November 20 to 28.

What is the purpose of the award?

The release said that the objective of the Best Web Series Award is to honor and encourage rich OTT content and its creators. The release said, “It seeks to promote growth and innovation in the Indian OTT industry by encouraging web series content created and displayed for digital platforms. The award aims to promote regional diversity and creativity in the web content industry, including content produced in regional languages, and also encourage OTT content in Indian languages.

Know what the winner will get?

Significantly, the winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh, which will be shared equally between the director, producer and producer/production house/OTT platform. The award for Best Web Series will be given to an Original Web Series on OTT platform, originally shot and available in Indian language. As per the release, applicants should submit the entry through the prescribed online entry form, which is available at the award website: Entries can be submitted online till 6 pm on 25th August. In addition to online submission, the stamped and signed hard copy of the submitted online application along with supporting material must be received by 31st August.

Minister Anurag Thakur had said this

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur announced that a new category will be added to the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) awards, which will be recognized for the program’s ‘artistic quality, excellent style of storytelling, technical prowess and overall impact’. Will be given for demonstration. Anurag said on Twitter on Tuesday evening that the ‘Best Web Series Award’ will be given to an original web series on the OTT (Over the Top) platform, originally filmed and available in Indian languages.
