Prahlad Kumar, Patna. The number of vehicles on the roads of Bihar is increasing by eight to 12% every year. For this reason, the hearing ability of the people is being affected by the modified silencers and horns installed in the vehicles. If people are not alert, then due to this noise pollution, deafness will increase more rapidly in people. 15 years ago, the noise pollution level of the city did not exceed 55 to 65 decibels during the day. But, today the situation is such that noise pollution increases up to 90 decibels in the morning duty, school time and late evening, which is very dangerous for the ear. According to doctors, sound from zero to 60 decibels is normal for the ear. There is little chance of ear damage or rupture of the eardrum, but in all the cities of Bihar, it ranges from 90 to 100 decibels. For this reason, deafness is increasing rapidly in people.

Noise pollution is more in modified vehicles, this is the rule of transport

The Transport Department collects fines after catching vehicles with modified silencers and loud horns. Despite this, the horn is replaced with a loud horn in the vehicle. As per the rules, it is wrong to blow the horn near the hospital. Despite this, other hospitals including PMCH have noise up to 90 decibels in the evening, which is a violation of the rule.

diseases caused by noise pollution

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Singh, HOD of IGIMS ENT Department, said that due to noise pollution, people are now hearing louder. People become victims of deafness.
