Jagdeep Dhankhar: Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said on Saturday that when Upper House member Jayant Chaudhary was addressing the House on the announcement of his grandfather Chaudhary Charan Singh being honored with Bharat Ratna, he was shocked by the ‘disrespectful’ conduct of Congress members. He was so saddened that being a ‘farmer’s son’ he thought of resigning from his post immediately. Congress had reacted sharply to Jagdeep Dhankhar’s decision to allow Jayant Choudhary to speak, after which there was a heated argument between the opposition and the ruling party. He said that it was natural to give some time in the House to Charan Singh’s grandson Jayant Chaudhary on his written request because the former Prime Minister was not limited to any family. “When this issue came up and the conduct I witnessed was unexpected, humiliating, hurtful and contrary to dignity,” he said.
