Star Sports has started a special show, Believe: The Diwali Miracle, Team India’s star batsman in its first episode Virat Kohli Shared some of his special moments. In the show, he said that singing the national anthem on the field with thousands of people is the most pleasant experience. I can never forget that moment. In the Star Sports show, Jatin Sapru talked with Virat Kohli about the Pakistan vs India match of the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Kohli’s Diwali gift last year
That match was on 23 October, a day before Diwali that year. Then India, chasing the target of 160 runs, defeated Pakistan by four wickets. Virat Kohli had played an unbeaten inning of 82 runs. Those two sixes of his came on the ball of Haris Rauf, which changed the course of the match. Recalling that match, Virat said that there was no frustration of any kind in me. So I didn’t feel any pressure like before. I was just happy that I was participating in such a big occasion again.
Spectators got entry into the stadium after Covid-19
Virat told that I remembered many things, in between there was Covid due to which there was lack of fans in the stadium. And I felt a flood of emotions surge inside me before the match day. Which made me realize what a great opportunity or blessing this is. This was a big occasion not only for the players but also for the fans. The most important thing was that the fans were present in the stadium. If there were not so many people there that day, I think this innings would not have had much significance. Because the energy that fans bring makes a game more than just a game.
Virat Kohli gets emotional with the national anthem
Virat Kohli also said on experiencing the feeling of singing the national anthem in a packed stadium, ‘It is amazing. Out of all the games I have been a part of with India-Pakistan in the World Cup or on big stages, this is something I can never forget. That is, singing the national anthem in front of all the people and people sing it with you. I will tell you why. Because to me that’s one thing, that all your supporters and you as a team and your whole management and everyone involved in that game work together.
National anthem gives strange energy
Virat said that all other things, be it batting, bowling or fielding. All this is happening differently. But this is a moment (singing the national anthem) where everyone’s energy gets organized into one thing. Its power is very special. This is something worth feeling. It’s not something you can describe in words. But we get goosebumps and it’s the energy that makes us feel that way. One gets very few opportunities to experience and feel that kind of energy in an instant.
