HUL GST Notice: Hindustan Unilever Limited, one of the major FMCG companies of India, has received a big setback in the beginning of the new year. The company has to pay Goods and Services Tax (GST) The department has given notice of Rs 447.50 crore. This includes both demand and penalty. According to the information given to the stock market, the company can further appeal against the tax notice. The company’s products from famous brands like Lux, Lifebuoy, Rin, Ponds, Dub, Surf Excel are available in the market. The company told the exchange that the orders were received by the company on December 30, 2023 and December 31, 2023 and the information is being submitted today i.e. January 1, 2024, which is the first working day after receipt of the order. Five notices have been sent to the company from different GST zones on subjects like GST credit, salary, allowance etc. This includes a demand of tax on salaries including a sum of Rs 372.82 crore and a penalty of Rs 39.90 crore from the Joint Commissioner, CGST and Central Excise, Mumbai East. Apart from this, notice has been received from the Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Tax Officer, Bengaluru. Tax demand was issued on the basis of additional GST credit of Rs 8.90 crore and penalty of Rs 89.08 lakh.
