Do smog towers help improve air quality?
Talking about smog towers, they work outside. This is the reason why smog towers do not prove to be effective in providing adequate amount of clean air. As soon as the filtered air is released, it again mixes with the surrounding pollution and there is no visible improvement in the air. A few days ago, the research team of IIT Bombay investigated the ongoing tower in Connaught Place. During testing they found that it cleans the air with 50% efficiency which goes up to 30% at a distance of 50 meters from the filter and above 10% at 500 meters away. The team also discovered that the components holding the filters were not tightly sealed, allowing polluted air to pass through them.
