Honorarium Scam Case: Ban on the arrest of former Director and Chief Scientist of Sinpher till further orders

Dhanbad News: In the honorarium scam of Rs 139 crore, 79 lakh, 97 thousand, 871 rupees in Sinfer, former director of Sinfer, Dr. PK Singh and Chief Scientist cum Head of Research Group, Dr. AK Singh got relief from the court on Saturday. The court of Dhanbad CBI Special Judge Rajnikant Pathak has stayed the arrest of both till August 26, 2023. Earlier on July 22, the court had stayed the arrest of both till Saturday. Apart from this, the hearing on the application for de-freezing the bank accounts filed by both the parties has also been postponed till August 26.

During the hearing, CBI’s senior prosecutor Chandan Singh opposed the bail application of both and said that the investigation is still in the initial stage. Now the investigation of all the seized documents is going on. Opposing this, defense advocate Rupesh Singh said that there is no evidence on record against him that he earned or paid money wrongfully. During the hearing, the investigator of the case AN Thakur was also present in the court. The CBI said that it would file a written reply to the bail application.

After listening to the opposition, the court has stayed the arrest of both till further orders. Apart from this, the CBI has been directed to submit the case diary. On June 25, 2023, the Anti-Corruption Branch of the CBI, Dhanbad, had registered an FIR in the honorarium scam of Rs 140 crore against Dr. PK Singh, former director of Simfer and Chief Scientist cum Head of Research Group, Dr. AK Singh. After the FIR, the bank accounts were frozen by the CBI, banning the operation of 12 bank accounts of Dr. PK Singh and five of Dr. AK Singh.
