Honda will launch electric motorcycle in 2024

According to media reports, Honda Global has confirmed that Honda Motor Company plans to launch an electric motorcycle with a capacity of 110 to 125 cc in India in the year 2024. This announcement from the company was a part of Honda Motor Company’s new motorcycle electrification strategy, under which the manufacturer has decided to invest $ 3.4 billion on new products and its development by 2030. The two-wheeler giant has increased the sales target of its motorcycles globally by 2030 from 3.5 million to 4 million.

New Honda electric bike will come with swappable battery

Although, Honda Motor Company has not yet disclosed the name of the upcoming new electric motorcycle, but it is being told that this electric motorcycle will come with swappable battery and it will be manufactured in the company’s existing manufacturing plant in India. It will be launched first in India, then in the markets of ASEAN member countries, Japan and then finally in Europe. Honda had announced electrification plans for India earlier this year, promising two electric offerings equivalent to its 110-125 cc offering. Where a fixed battery will be available in an e-scooter. At the same time, the second model will come with swappable battery.

Honda will set up a separate plant for electric motorcycles

During the presentation, Daiki Mihara, Executive Officer (Honda Motorcycle and Power Products Electrification Business Development Unit), Honda Motor Company, said that next year in 2024, we will launch an electric motorcycle with swappable battery starting in India and then in Japan, Europe. And will launch in ASEAN. Honda’s operations in India will play an important role in the company’s motorcycle electrification strategy in the future. The company will use only its existing plants to make electric motorcycles from now till 2027. After this a special plant will be set up for electric motorcycles. This will reduce the cost of production of electric motorcycles, the benefits of which can be passed on to the customers. The production capacity of the company’s new production plants will be around 10 lakh units annually and around Rs 2,800 crore will be spent on each plant.

Honda will bring 30 new electric motorcycles

Honda’s future strategy includes launching 30 new electric motorcycles globally by the end of this decade. The upcoming offerings will include new technologies including advanced connectivity, OTA updates and modern data collection systems. The company is also working on improving battery technology and will use LFP battery cells in the future. Along with this, NMC lithium-ion batteries will currently be used in its electric offerings.
