Holi 2024: Masan’s Holi hubbub at Manikarnika Ghat, Varanasi

Varanasi: There was a wonderful sight on the world famous Masane Holi (Holi 2024) at Manikarnika Ghat in Kashi. Holi was being played with ashes amidst the burning pyres. There was a crowd of thousands of people at the Manikarnika Ghat crematorium. Holi is played with colors and gulal all over the country, but in Shiva’s city Kashi, Holi is also played with ashes of pyre. Such Holi happens only in Kashi in the whole world. It is believed that Lord Shankar plays the Holi of Bhasma with his beloved ones, ghosts, ghosts and vampire powers.

Before starting Bhasma Holi, Baba Masan Nath was worshiped with rituals. After this Baba’s Aarti was performed. The entire cremation ground echoed with the slogan of Har-Har Mahadev along with drums and damru. Along with the people of Kashi, foreign tourists also enjoyed this festive Holi.

According to mythological beliefs, Lord Shiva started the Holi of Masan. On the day of Rangbhari Ekadashi, Lord Shankar came to Kashi with the Gauna of Mother Parvati. Then he played Holi with his friends. But the people living in the crematorium were not able to play Holi with the ghosts, spirits, vampires, yakshas, ​​gandharvas, eunuchs, creatures etc. Therefore, a day after Rangbhari Ekadashi, Lord Shiva played Holi with the ghosts living in the crematorium. Since then, the tradition of playing Masan Holi has been going on in Kashi. This event is famous in the country and abroad because of playing Holi with the ashes of the pyre. Thousands of people gather in Varanasi to watch Holi of Masan.
