Hockey roar from today! Astroturf stadium ready, India’s daughters will avenge the defeat in China here

Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Stadium located at Morabadi Ground is ready. It will be buzzing with international women hockey players from Friday. The occasion is the Jharkhand Women’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, which will be hosted by Ranchi (India) for the first time. Apart from India, teams from China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Thailand are participating in this championship. Four daughters from Jharkhand have also been selected in the Indian team. These include Nikki Pradhan, Salima Tete, Sangeeta Kumari and Beauty Dungdung. Although Beauty will not get a chance to play any match due to injury, but the remaining three daughters will be under pressure to perform better in front of their people at their home ground. In such a situation, it is our responsibility to encourage our daughters. Where our daughters missed out on gold in the Asian Games, we should boost the morale of those daughters so much that they can avenge the defeat in China here.

Betla’s oldest elephant ‘Juhi’ becomes mascot

The mascot of Jharkhand Asian Women’s Hockey Champions Trophy has been made of an elephant. Its name is ‘Juhi’. Betla National Park’s elephant ‘Juhi’ is a symbol of Jharkhand’s rich wildlife heritage. This elephant was brought to Betla National Park in 1984. This is the oldest elephant of Betla. It was engaged in serving the tourists here for years. Jungle safari by riding elephants has been an old tradition of Betla National Park, which has now been abolished. When Betla was started, it used to have a fixed route, where people were taken on elephants in the morning and evening. Elephants were also used for wildlife studies. This tradition was stopped after the death of an elephant named ‘Rajni’ in 2017. In August this year, ‘Juhi”s health also deteriorated.

Elephants kept in PTR since 1984

In Palamu Tiger Reserve, domesticated elephants have been kept only in Betla since 1984. However, now many of these pet elephants have died. These include the names of Champa, Chameli, Rajni, Anarkali etc. Only ‘Juhi’ of that time remains.
