But there was a time when work used to be done on typewriters. This could be seen in every office. But at that time keyboards were only in English, typing in Hindi was not possible. In fact, typewriters are being used in government offices in India since the British era. Even after independence, typing continued in English in offices. After this, during the years 1950-60, work in Hindi started increasing in government offices. But at that time, due to lack of Hindi keyboard in the typewriter, the problem started increasing. After this, Prof. of English Department of Patna Science College. Understanding the need of Hindi keyboard, Kripanath Mishra started working on it. He worked on Hindi keyboard for many years and then he got success. It was due to his efforts that Hindi typing gradually started in government offices.

Pro. Kripanand had prepared Hindi keyboard in total three typewriters. One of these was given to Shri Krishna Science Centre, Patna. He designed the keyboard in such a way that typing could be done easily. There are many such letters in Hindi which were mostly used in government offices or newspapers. In such a situation, the letters were placed on those buttons where the fingers were easily accessible. Less frequently used letters were placed in the top and bottom rows. The then Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru also met Prof. The Hindi keyboard prepared by Kripananda for typewriter was praised.

The patent for Hindi keyboard of typewriter was given to Professor of English Department of Patna Science College. It is named after Kripanath Mishra.
