Although seating arrangements were made for the people coming to the program, but due to the huge crowd, it was proving to be insufficient. Apart from this, there was also a lack of arrangements to avoid the sun. Due to which many people got ill after coming under the strong sunlight and 11 people lost their lives.
The government gave a compensation of Rs 5-5 to the relatives of the deceased: State CM Eknath Shinde has expressed grief over the death of people during the Bhushan award ceremony. He has also visited the sick people in the hospital. At the same time, CM Shinde has announced a compensation of Rs 5-5 lakh to the families of all the deceased. Also said that sick people will be treated free of cost in the hospital. CM Shinde said that there should be no shortage in the treatment of patients.
Amit Shah gave the award: Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented this award to spiritual leader and social reformer Appasaheb Dharmadhikari at a function organized in Kharghar area of Raigad district of Maharashtra. Lakhs of his fans attended the event. During this time many people fell ill after coming in the grip of strong smoke.
