Hazaribagh News: A district level workshop was held for the ambitious scheme of Government of India ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme and eradication of witchcraft. The workshop was inaugurated in Tatijharia Block Auditorium by District Social Welfare Officer Indu Prabha Khalkho, Chief Santosh Mandal, BDO Rashmi Khushboo Minj. While conducting the operation, District Child Protection Officer Sanjay Prasad gave other information including promoting the importance of girls in the society, improving sex ratio, bringing awareness and sensitivity among the local people under the Central Government’s ambitious scheme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.

The public representatives present in the program expressed their views. The chief said that it is our responsibility to save, educate and keep our daughters safe. To eradicate the practice of witchcraft, we all have to come together and create awareness. Giving information on this occasion, District Social Welfare Officer said that Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme is a very ambitious scheme of the Government of India. The objective of the said scheme is to educate the girls while keeping them safe and to provide them benefits by linking them with various schemes for a better future. The benefits of the schemes run by the government are also being given to daughters.

On the subject of witchcraft, he said that the word witch is very painful for women. To prevent this, there is a provision in our Constitution under the Prohibition of Witchcraft Act, 2001 to take legal action against any person who harasses any woman by calling her a witch and other relevant words.
