Sonepur Fair: Asia’s largest Harihar Kshetra Sonpur fair starts every year on the occasion of Kartik Purnima. This 32-day fair will start from 25th November this year and will continue till 26th December. During this time, people can come to the fair and enjoy other events along with purchasing animals. This fair is jointly organized by the Tourism Department and Saran District Administration. In such a situation, DM Aman Sameer had recently held a meeting with the officials of the dozen cells formed for the peaceful conduct of this fair. In this meeting, he instructed the senior officials of all the cells to execute their work on time and informed them about their tasks and responsibilities. It was told that Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav and Art Culture Minister Jitendra Kumar Rai will also be present during the inauguration of the fair.

For the opening and closing ceremonies from 25th November to 26th December, senior in-charge cum DTO of Welcome Committee Cell and officer in-charge Chapra Sadar DCLR were given instructions regarding welcoming the special and distinguished guests coming to the fair.

Inauguration and closing ceremony, the officer in-charge of the cell and the District Land Acquisition Officer were given the responsibility of organizing the opening and closing of the fair in an organized manner and the District Land Acquisition Officer was given the responsibility of organizing the cultural program.

The responsibility of additional in-charge officer for organizing cultural programs every day in the fair was given to the District Public Relations Officer.
Arrangements for cleanliness, electricity and security will be made in the fair by dividing it into two zones and 10 sub-zones.
District Land Acquisition Officer, Sonpur DCLR has been given the responsibility as the officer in-charge of cleanliness and drinking water supply during the Sonpur Fair. In order to ensure smooth cleaning of the fair, instructions have been given to make preparations by dividing the fair area into two zones and sub-zones. DRDA Director, Sonpur SDO, Disaster Department official and Executive Engineer of Building Construction have been nominated as officers in-charge of bathing ghat construction and ghat security. During the fair, the work of construction of bathing ghats and barricading for security at all the ghats of river Gandak and Pahelja Ghat is to be done by the district administration. During this period, the areas marked for barricading will be continuously monitored. For temporary electrification of the fair, adequate lighting in the fair area, government exhibition and stall area, necessary decisions were taken to coordinate with the event manager of the tourism department and to arrange the exhibition with the concerned departments and institutions.
Child artistes from government schools will shine in the fair
This time, child artists from government schools of Saran will showcase their talent in the Sonpur fair. The responsibility of selecting the artists has been given to the District Education Officer. On the orders of District Education Officer, District Program Officer Dhananjay Paswan has started preparations for Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. While issuing a letter, he has asked all the head masters to provide the list of such child artistes of their respective schools to the office along with the program so that they can be selected.

District Program Officer said that every year a grand exhibition is organized in the Sonpur fair by the children of government schools and cultural programs are presented. This time too, list of artists has been sought from all government schools and other educational institutions including private schools. All head masters and school directors will have to provide this list before November 15 so that programs can be selected and further action can be taken. This time from 25th November to 26th December i.e. a total of 32 fairs are being organized in Harihar Kshetra Sonpur fair.
Music teachers also cooperate
In Harihar area Sonpur fair, programs of educational and other departments remain mostly during the day. Music teachers appointed in various schools of Saran also play an important role in these programs. This time it is expected that more and more music teachers will be appointed so that the representation can be better.
