Gyanvapi Survey Case: Varanasi court gives one more week’s time to ASI to submit survey report

Varanasi : The district court on Monday gave one more week’s time to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to complete and submit the scientific survey report of the Gyanvapi Masjid complex here. Madan Mohan Yadav, lawyer for the Hindu side in the dispute, said that while hearing the case, District Judge AK Vishvesh gave an additional time of one week to the ASI to complete the survey and submit its report. The court has fixed December 18 as the next date of hearing in the case. Advocate Madan Mohan Yadav, appearing for the Hindu side, said the ASI in its application cited the ill health of its superintending archaeologist Avinash Mohanty, sudden increase in blood pressure and inability to appear in the court to submit the report on Monday. This is the sixth time that the court has given time to the ASI to file its survey report. Earlier, the court had given time to ASI on 6th September, 5th October, 2nd November, 17th November and 30th November. Last time, on November 30, the district court had asked the ASI to submit the survey report of the Gyanvapi complex by December 11. In its application, the ASI had said that more time is needed to assimilate the information given by various experts. . ASI had said in its application that its experts are working towards collecting various types of data collected by archaeologists, epigraphists, surveyors, geophysics experts etc. ASI told the court on November 2 that it has completed the survey. has been completed, but it may take some more time to compile the report with details of the equipment used in the survey work. After this, the court gave additional time till 17th November to submit the documents. But the ASI’s lawyer again asked for 15 more days due to non-availability of technical report and the District Judge asked him to submit his report by 28th November.
