GPAI Summit 2023: Hope to reach a consensus on the manifesto regarding AI, Ashwini Vaishnav said this

Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence, GPAI Summit : Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that India is in talks with the member countries for signing the declaration at the upcoming Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) summit. This summit will be held at Bharat Mandapam of Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from 12 to 14 December. The Union Minister said that we hope that a consensus will be reached on the manifesto soon.

Discussion on opportunities of new technology and AI

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) summit today. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that in the summit, there will be in-depth discussion on the consensus-based declaration document on dealing with the opportunities and risks of new technology and AI.

Control on AI is necessary

Ashwini Vaishnav said that today the world’s thinking regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming similar. People are well aware of the dangers emerging from AI, its benefits and possibilities. The whole world also wants that there should be a control on this. Almost everyone is unanimous on how to move forward with AI.

Electronics and Information Technology Minister Vaishnav said that India has always supported democratization of technology for the public. It will consider the use of AI for sustainable agriculture as well as supporting structures like DPI (Digital Public Infrastructure) to harness the power of artificial intelligence.

What is GPAI?

GPAI is a multi-stakeholder initiative focused on the nuances of AI. It includes 28 member countries and the European Union (EU). GPAI was established in 2020. India is a founding member country of GPAI. India will host the annual GPAI Summit in New Delhi on December 12-14, 2023.

The world is looking towards India…

Responsible use of AI will be discussed in the GPAI Summit. According to PTI language report, in this program the stakeholders will brainstorm on harnessing the opportunities and benefits of AI. Vaishnav told journalists, the world is looking towards India. Today every major country wants to join hands with India for co-creation and development of technology.
