Governor inaugurates 69th mid-day meal kitchen in Makandganj, Hazaribagh

Hazaribagh: Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the 69th Midday Meal Kitchen (Akshaya Patra Kitchen) in Makandganj, Hazaribagh. Addressing the inauguration ceremony, he said that the scheme of Akshaya Patra Kitchen is not just a scheme but a silent revolution which is playing an important role in bringing the children forward and shaping the future of the children. The first need of man is to satisfy hunger. Swami Vivekananda ji has said that when a person is hungry, he should be given food and not a speech. When you are hungry, your ability to accept things also reduces. About 23 lakh children get food every day through Akshaya Patra Kitchens operated across the country. This is a great service to humanity. The Governor said that, during his tour of 24 districts of Jharkhand, he found that there is a problem of malnutrition in Jharkhand and Akshaya Patra Kitchen will play an important role in getting rid of this problem. Jharkhand is full of mineral wealth. It should be used for the welfare of the people and to raise their standard of living.

This scheme of Akshaya Patra Kitchen will definitely provide nutrition to the children.

The Governor said that this scheme of Akshaya Patra Kitchen will not only provide nutrition to the children but will also increase their attendance in school. He said that, fresh vegetables produced from local farmers will be used in this kitchen. This will make them financially prosperous. Along with education, children should also get nutritious food, hence ‘PM Poshan Yojana’ was also started. Honorable Prime Minister has approved an increase of 9.6 percent in the cost of cooking. ‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana’ was started by him during the Corona epidemic, under which food grains are still being provided.

Foundation stone of library-cum-museum construction work also laid

The Governor said that ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ has been started to supply pure drinking water to all the houses. The coverage of this scheme has increased from 8 percent to 29 percent. A target of 90 percent coverage has been set in the next two years. AIIMS Hospital has been opened in Jharkhand for better health of the people and continuous work is being done for the betterment of other hospitals. Proper irrigation arrangements are being made so that farmers can produce more and more food. The Governor said that the schemes blossom and flourish with people’s participation in the government schemes. The Governor laid the foundation stone for construction of kitchen sheds in various 89 schools of Hazaribagh district with DMFT funds. He also laid the foundation stone of library-cum-museum construction work at Zilla Parishad Chowk, Hazaribagh from DMFT funds.
