Gorakhpur: Yogi government is providing support to the people of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe in Uttar Pradesh. These people are getting the benefits of all the basic facilities as well as public welfare schemes of the government. 10 hostels and 6 ashram style schools are also being run by the department in the division for these people. Moving forward on its resolution of Antyodaya, the Yogi government is becoming a supporter of the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) people. Along with basic facilities, they are not only getting the benefits of public welfare schemes of the government, the government also provides ample financial assistance by taking legal action in cases of harassment. If we look at the data of the Social Welfare Department, in the last one year in the districts of Gorakhpur division (Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria and Maharajganj), financial assistance of more than Rs 13 crore 22 lakh has been given in cases of Dalit oppression. People belonging to Scheduled Castes and Tribes also got a lot of benefits from the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme. 3261 Dalit couples in the division were benefited by this on which the government spent Rs 16 crore 63 lakh. Not only this, 83140 SC-ST people in Gorakhpur division have received an amount of Rs 24 crore 94 lakh under the old age pension scheme. And in order to advance the youth of the tribe, 10 hostels and six ashram system schools are being run by the Social Welfare Department in Gorakhpur division. Also, in the last one year, students in the division have been given scholarships in lieu of pre-tenth and post-tenth scholarships. An amount of more than Rs 25 crore has been made available.
