Government earned Rs 6 billion from fine on PAN-Aadhaar link

A huge amount has been collected as fine from those who delayed in linking PAN-Aadhaar. According to the information given in Parliament, the government has collected Rs 600 crore as penalty for delay in PAN-Aadhaar link. Not only this, about 11.48 crore PAN cards have not been linked to Aadhaar till now.

Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that till January 29, 2024, about 11.48 crore PANs could not be linked to Aadhaar.

Let us tell you that the deadline for linking Aadhaar with PAN has ended on June 30, 2023 and after that, any holder who linked it had to pay a penalty of Rs 1,000.

The minister said that between July 1, 2023 and January 31, 2024, the government received Rs 601.97 crore as penalty. According to the Income Tax Department, those whose PAN has not been linked to Aadhaar, have become inactive from July 1, 2023.

No refund will be given for these PANs. Along with this, TDS and TCS will also be charged more. If someone wants to activate PAN, he can activate it by paying a penalty of Rs 1,000.
