Government doctors can get exemption for private practice in UP, Yogi government is considering

Lucknow : The Yogi government is going to take a new initiative to stop the migration of doctors from medical colleges in the state. The government will now give this facility to doctors who want to do private practice with certain conditions. For the time being, the condition will be that they will get permission for private practice but patients will have to see them in the government medical institute premises only. Preparations are on to start it from Kalyan Singh Cancer Institute in Lucknow. The Medical Education Department is preparing its proposal.

Continuous work is going on on the plan to open medical colleges in every district of the state. Nearly a dozen district hospitals have also been given the status of medical colleges. Presently grand buildings of 14 new colleges are also being prepared. But the biggest problem is that of the faculty. There are no medical teachers to teach MBBS and PG students.

Shortage of doctors is also becoming a hindrance in the treatment of patients. Private practice and lucrative offers from the private sector are attracting doctors. While private practice of government doctors is banned. In lieu of this, the government gives them NPA (Non Practicing Allowance).

Now the doctor will see the patient after two o’clock after taking the fee

Now to stop the exodus of doctors, the state government is going to provide private practice facility to the doctors of medical colleges as well. However, now doctors will also have to do private practice in government institutions only. There is a plan to start it as a pilot project from Kalyan Singh Cancer Institute. Then it will be carried forward. If sources related to the Medical Education Department are to be believed, the doctors will have to see free patients till 2 pm like the present situation. Patients will be able to see after 2 pm after taking fees. This proposal will be implemented only after the approval of the cabinet.

Formula of 70 and 30 can be fixed

The fee formula for the doctors of the medical college is also being decided. According to the formula that is being discussed at present, 70 percent of the amount received from the fees will be given to the doctor and 30 percent to the institute. The department’s argument behind this is that doctors will not have to spend any money in setting up a separate setup for private practice. At the same time, more facilities can be increased in the institute with 30 percent amount. Although how much interest the doctors will show in this scheme, the success of the scheme will depend on this.
