A doctor from Kerala has been suspended by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). It is being told that his 26 year old girlfriend had demanded dowry. The marriage was canceled due to non-payment of dowry. Due to this shock the girlfriend committed suicide. The government doctor had demanded one and a half kilos of gold and several acres of land from her as dowry. A statement has come out from the police in this regard. Police said that Dr. Ruvaiyas was continuously pressurizing her for dowry. Because of this the girlfriend went into depression and committed suicide.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has issued a statement confirming the suspension of EA Ruwais. Girlfriend Shahana has left a suicide note. It is written in the suicide note that it is true that my family cannot give one and a half kilos of gold and several acres of land. Shahana further wrote that the young man’s intention was to ruin her life by promising to marry her. She is giving up her life because of their desire for dowry.
Dr. EA Ruwais was arrested
Talking about Dr. EA Ruwais, he is a member of the Indian Medical Association. He has been accused of being involved in instigating a female doctor, who was undergoing second year postgraduate training in surgery, to commit suicide. The police have arrested her under the Dowry Prohibition Act and have taken her on remand. According to the news coming out, a suicide note allegedly written by the female doctor before committing suicide has been recovered from the apartment. In this, the name of Dr. Ruvaiyas as an accused and his alleged role is clearly mentioned.
What did Shahana’s family say?
Shahana’s family alleged that the accused’s family had demanded 150 gold items, 15 acres of land and a BMW car as dowry. When Shahana’s family said that they could not fulfill the demand, her boyfriend’s family canceled the wedding.
