Along with male Babbar lion Pataudi, female Babbar lioness Maryam has been kept in Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan Zoological Park of Gorakhpur. Maryam has completed her 19th year of age. Maryam Sherni is healthy even at the age of 19. She is taking 8 kg meat and supplements daily. He is also given liver and heart 2 days a week. Maryam is the only survivor among her brothers and sisters. His brother died two and a half years ago and his sister three years ago. Maryam is the only old lioness of the state. The zoo administration will celebrate Mariam’s birthday on November 3, after which she will enter her 20th year.
There are two lions in Ashfaq Ullah Khan Zoological Park.
Generally the age of Babbar lion is 15 to 16 years. There are two lions, male and female, in Ashfaq Ullah Khan Zoological Park of Gorakhpur. Among them are lion Pataudi and lioness Maryam. Pataudi is currently 13 years old. He has been kept in an enclosure for the entertainment of the spectators. Due to Maryam’s old age, she has been removed from the enclosure for the last 4 months. Maryam is being kept in the corral during the day and in the night cell at night. The zoo administration monitors it through CCTV cameras.
Mary’s brother and sister have died
Maryam is currently healthy and is also taking diet according to her age. After the opening of Gorakhpur Zoo, Maryam was brought from Shakarbagh to Etawah Zoo on 28 February 2021 for the entertainment of the visitors. After keeping him there for a few days, he was brought to Gorakhpur Zoo. According to the zoo administration, Mariam had three brothers and sisters. Maryam’s brother and sister were left behind in the same zoo. Who has currently passed away.
I have been sick so many times
According to the zoo administration, Maryam’s health deteriorated in the year 2021 at the age of 17. His treatment continued continuously for three months, September, October and November. After which she recovered and started entertaining the audience with her roar. Again in the year 2022, his health deteriorated for two months in August and September. After recovering, she once again went to the enclosure and entertained the people.
Zoo’s veterinary officer Dr. Yogesh Pratap Singh said that Maryam is examined regularly. He is completely healthy and his birthday will be celebrated on completion of 19 years on 3rd November. Due to his old age, he is also being given some supplements along with food.
