Gorakhpur : Municipal Corporation Gorakhpur has started a big initiative to stop pollution on Rapti river located at Rajghat of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. Municipal commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal has asked to make arrangements for cremation free of cost from May 1. The Municipal Corporation will make arrangements for wood and gas free of cost. Here people will be able to perform the last rites of their relatives in wood, gasifier and gas based plants. Here people will only have to register the dead body, for which a fee of Rs 200 will have to be paid. Municipal commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal inspected the funeral site at Rajghat. The city commissioner had already called Sanjay Sahni of the Green Revolution Foundation, an executive organization, from Delhi. The city commissioner has given instructions to fix the arrangement of the plant, broken tiles and stairs. At the same time, for the arrangement of water, the submersible pump has been asked to be fixed. Even after having good arrangements at the funeral site in Rajghat, most of the people reach the banks of Rapti river and perform the last rites. This not only pollutes the river, but also the people coming for the funeral have to face inconvenience.

Now cremation can be done with gasifier and gas also

Let us tell you that on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a cremation ground has been constructed on the banks of Rapti river in Gorakhpur at a cost of Rs 12 crore. At this place, there is a provision for cremation of 10 dead bodies, gasifier of two dead bodies with wood and one dead body with gas. Arrangements have been made in the plant so that the dangerous gas does not spread in the atmosphere during the funeral by the gasifier method. But still there are many such people who perform the last rites of their relatives on the banks of the river. It takes about 3 quintals of wood to perform the last rites by wood method. The gasifier method further reduces the amount of wood. On the other hand, 12 to 16 kg of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is required in a gas-based plant. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal told that the Municipal Corporation works for the convenience of the citizens. Everyone has problems in the last rites on the banks of the river, so all arrangements are being made for the last rites at the funeral site. From May 1, the Municipal Corporation will also provide wood and gas. This system will remain in force for the next six months.
