Gorakhpur: Trouble increased due to water level down, water leaving tubewells and handpumps

Gorakhpur : The heat is wreaking havoc at this time. People are suffering from the heat. On the other hand, in the scorching heat, the water level in the metropolis is also going down rapidly. Due to which, along with the hand pump, the tube well has also started releasing water. Due to which there is a lot of difficulty in filling water tanks at people’s homes. Due to which the problem of water is arising in people’s homes. After getting information about this, the water supply department is increasing the depth of tube wells in many areas including Surajkund, Tiwaripur, Ilahibagh, Mahewa, Bankatwa.

Water department is increasing the depth of pipe by 8 to 10 feet. If it does not rain soon, there will be a problem of drawing water in front of many tube wells. The reason for this is that now it is not possible to extend the pipe to the depth. Saurabh Singh, assistant engineer of the water department, said that due to the heat, tubewells and handpumps are releasing water in the areas along the banks of the rivers due to the lowering of the water level.

He told that the pipe length of 5 tube wells has been increased. The area where the problem of water is coming up in the city, its diagnosis is being done. Water tankers are being sent to the areas where there is a problem of water.

Due to low water level in Surajkund, Ilahibagh, Tiwaripur area, dirt along with water has become a common thing. People are facing a lot of problems due to sand and mud coming along with the water. According to the local people, people are not able to use it because of the dirty water coming. According to Poonam Shukla of Tiwaripur locality, due to dirty water coming many times, that water is not usable. Due to which they face a lot of problems. Due to the coming of dirty water, the saw machines installed in the house are also getting damaged soon.

Let us tell you that many areas including Ilahibagh, Surajkund, Madhopur, Mahewa, Turkmanpur, are on the banks of the Rapti and Rohit rivers. Due to the lowering of the water level, the handpumps of these areas are also drying up. According to the engineers of Jalkal, the river has gone a long way back and due to sandy soil, the ground water level in these areas is going down rapidly. This is the reason why many handpumps have dried up and some are getting some water after a lot of effort.
