Gorakhpur : The Municipal Corporation has now handed over the responsibility of maintenance of animals to private hands in Kanha Upvan in Gorakhpur, UP. Earlier, the Municipal Corporation used to spend 62 rupees daily on each animal. But after handing it over to private hands, now each animal will cost Rs 38 per day. 1350 animals have been kept in Kanha Upvan.
Earlier, the Municipal Corporation used to spend more than Rs 25 lakh every month. Now after giving it in private hands, the Municipal Corporation will have to spend about 15.5 lakh rupees every month. With the new arrangement of the Municipal Corporation, it will get benefit of about 1.25 crore rupees annually.
CM Yogi had inaugurated Kanha Upvan
Actually, destitute and abandoned animals are kept in Kanha Upvan. Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation was taking the responsibility of taking care of the animals. More than 20 employees were deployed here by the Municipal Corporation for cleaning. Kanha Upvan is located in ward number 38 of Gorakhpur. It was inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on 6 July 2019. Kanha Upvan was built on 9 acres at a cost of Rs 8.5 crore.
IDS Enterprises has got the responsibility of Kanha Upvan
The Municipal Corporation has now given its responsibility in private hands. For the health care and treatment of animals, the deployment of doctors by the Animal Husbandry Department will remain the same as before. The firm will provide the medicines used in the treatment. IDS Enterprises, the firm that has taken the contract for animal care in Kanha Upvan, is already producing organic manure. The firm itself will sell cow dung and animal urine. Due to this, the arrangement of cleanliness of Kanha Upvan will be good.
If the work of the firm is good then the contract will be extended – Municipal Commissioner
Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal told that the arrangement for the care of animals in Kanha Upvan has been given to private hands. We will keep our own eye on its arrangements, along with supervisors and zonal officers have also been deployed. The animals are being given straw, fodder and green fodder daily. The doctors of the Animal Department will remain posted as before for examination and treatment. The firm has to provide the medicine. He said that the firm is doing good work now, if their work continues to be good, then the contract can be extended even further. At present the working of the firm is satisfactory.
