Gorakhpur : People visiting Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan Zoological Park will not be able to see Maryam (lioness) anymore. Because Maryam has turned 18 years old. Maryam has completed her average age. Due to this she has become weak. The zoo administration has kept him in the night cell. So that he can be taken care of well. But there is also good news for the visitors. Two new Babbar lions will now be seen in the park. Its proposal has been sent. It is expected that soon both the Babbar lions from Gujarat will be brought to Gorakhpur zoo.

Lioness weakened due to old age

With the launch in the year 2021 in the zoo of Gorakhpur, Maryam, who attracted the audience with her roar, has become more than her average age. Mary has turned 18 years old. Pataudi was brought after Maryam in the zoo. The zoo administration has kept Mary in the night cell. Mary has become weak due to old age. For this reason, she cannot move around in the enclosure, cannot roar, nor can she perform stunts in front of the spectators.

By doing this, Maryam the lioness may get injured. According to the zoo administration, Maryam has also reduced her intake of food. At this stage of his age, his safety is very important. That’s why the zoo administration has kept him in the night cell. Where he is being looked after and examined from time to time. He is being kept in a kraal (big cage) to get sunlight or to get outside air. Zoo’s veterinarian Dr. Yogesh Pratap Singh said that due to Maryam being 18 years old, she has been removed from the enclosure and kept in the night cell.

Now only one male lion in the enclosure Pataudi

At present, only one male lion Pataudi is left in the enclosure. The exercise to bring two new Babbar lions is going on. For which the proposal has been prepared and sent. Both Babbar lions will soon be brought from Gujarat to Gorakhpur zoo. According to the zoo’s veterinarian, the average age of a lion is 15 to 17 years. If the lion is in the jungle then its average age is 15 years and if the bird is in the house then the average age is considered to be 17 years. Lioness Mariam of Gorakhpur zoo has crossed both her milestones.
