Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Of Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University has decided to end the winter vacation. The university administration has not only started the process of reducing holidays but has also reduced the holidays during Diwali by 3 days. Besides, the university administration has also canceled the holidays of Devotthan Ekadashi to be held on 23rd November and Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Parinirvan Day to be held on 6th December. The Vice Chancellor has taken this decision to cancel the holidays of the university as per the standards of holidays of the state government. Registrar of Gorakhpur University, Professor Shantanu Rastogi has also issued a letter regarding this on Thursday. Professor Poonam Tandon, Vice Chancellor of Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, said that Gorakhpur University has the maximum number of holidays as compared to other universities of the state. Due to this, the academy session gets damaged. That is why a decision has been taken to reduce the unnecessary holidays of the university. In the holidays calendar of Gorakhpur University, winter break was only from 26th to 30th December i.e. 5 days. But due to festivals and Sundays, the number of holidays increased to 8 days. During this, Christmas holiday is on 25th December and Sundays are on 24th and 31st December. Due to the cancellation of winter holidays, the plans of many teachers and employees to go out in winter failed. Has occurred.

University’s academic activities affected due to 8-day Dussehra holiday

Earlier, after the academic activities of the university got affected due to the 8-day holiday of Dussehra, Vice Chancellor Professor Poonam Tandon reviewed the holiday calendar of the university. And during the holidays during Diwali, the holidays from 8th to 10th November were cancelled. In this sequence, he had canceled the leave of 14th November. But later this decision was withdrawn on the demand of teachers and employees. From this it has become clear that next year the holiday calendar will be much smaller. Brainstorming has started on reducing the number of holidays in the calendar to 29 instead of 52. Soon the calendar for the year 2024 with fewer holidays will be released. After the cancellation of winter vacation, there was a lot of discussion among the employees and teachers in the university about this. Some teachers said that it would have been better if the decision to reduce the holidays was taken in the coming year. Due to the sudden decision, all their plans have been ruined.
