Gorakhpur News: Preparations to celebrate Chhath festival as zero waste festival in Gorakhpur, worship at 391 places

Gorakhpur, Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation is preparing to celebrate Chhath Mahaparva as a zero waste festival. Regarding which the Municipal Corporation has started preparations. The Municipal Corporation Administration has banned the use of polythene and single use plastic at Chhath Ghats during the festival. There will be special arrangements for cleanliness at Chhath Ghats and adequate number of sanitation workers will be busy collecting garbage as well as removing it from there. Apart from this, the Municipal Commissioner has given instructions to immediately prepare an action plan for arranging temporary ponds in localities and parks and filling them with water. Instructions have been given to disinfect all the places of worship along with a control room at the Chhath ghats on the banks of Rapti river in Gorakhpur, convenient routes for traffic to the ghats, complete arrangements for lighting and necessary color illumination. Along with this, mobile toilets and tankers for drinking water will be made available to the devotees reaching Chhath Ghats. Assistant Municipal Commissioner Nirankar Singh of the Municipal Corporation said that to make the Chhath festival a success, the Municipal Corporation is working with the District Administration, Police and Health Department. Will also take cooperation.

There will be strong security arrangements

Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal said that there will be strict security arrangements at the places of worship on Chhath festival. On Chhath festival, in view of the crowd of devotees at Ram Ghat, Gorakshanath Ghat and other ghats on the banks of Rapti river and at big ponds, divers of PSC along with NDRF and SDRF will be put on duty. Apart from this, PSC, Rapid Action Force will also be deployed. The event to be held on the Rapti river bank will be monitored with CCTV cameras and drones.

Chhath Puja will be held at 391 permanent and temporary ghats.

Chhath puja will start from November 17. Gorakhnath Ghat, Ramghat, Takiya Ghat, Hanumangarhi, Domingarh, Bhim Sarovar located in Gorakhnath temple complex on the Rapti coast of Gorakhpur, Mansarovar temple, Moti Pokhara, Basharatpur, Surajkund Pokhara, Sugharpur Pokhara, Bilandpur Shiv Temple Pokhara, Worship will be held in 391 permanent and temporary ponds including Kalepur Pokhar and Jatashankar Pokhar.
