Gorakhpur News: Large quantity of Halal product seized in Gorakhpur, Food Department raided

After the UP government banned Halal products, the Food Department has conducted raids in various malls and marts in the Chief Minister’s city. During the raid, a huge quantity of Halal products was seized from a mart located in Padleganj. However, when there was no success in the campaign against Halal certified products on the first day, the Food Safety and Drug Administration was slammed and the officers became active. The team raided four places in the metropolis and seized 160 kg of Halal certified food items. Its price is Rs 40320. Hal certified food items are still being sold in large quantities in the metropolis. The Food Safety and Drug Administration team has been continuously raiding various malls, marts and super markets for the last two days. The Food Department team has seized a large quantity of various products with Halal written on them in a mart in the city. In this raid conducted under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner Food Kumar Gunjan, chips, chocolates, sweets and many other types of food items have been recovered from inside the mart. The packets on which Halal was written. All these products were sealed as per the rules and taken into custody and sent to the laboratory for testing.

Satyendra Kumar Pandey, manager of Spencer’s in Padri Bazaar, said that following the instructions of the government, Halal certified products were removed but by mistake only a few items were left, this has also been removed. The Assistant Commissioner says that as per the government order, now such products can neither be sold nor manufactured nor can be stocked. Legal action will be ensured against those who do so. At present, this is the first case of Halal product being seized in Gorakhpur. Officials said that the raids will continue in future also. Along with this, he requested the traders that if there is any product with Halal written on it from their shop or warehouse, then they should immediately remove it from there.

In this case, a young man looking after the shop told that the government has taken this decision in a hurry. Which is not fair justice. Goods worth lakhs of rupees of traders are filled in the shops. The government should have set some time limit before imposing this ban. Under which traders would sell or remove their goods. But he did not consider this attitude of the government as fair. He told that this decision of the government is completely wrong. Due to which common traders are having to bear the brunt. The raid team included Chief Food Safety Officer Hitesh Mohan Tripathi, Food Safety Officer Inthik Prasad, Santosh Kumar Tiwari, Swaminath, Kamal Narayan Singh, Radheshyam, Umashankar Singh, Dr. Srinivas Yadav, Ankur Mishra.
