Gopalganj: Gopalganj Police has got a big success before the Lok Sabha elections. Police have arrested the arms supplier and liner in the murder of Abdul Salam alias Aslam Mukhiya, state secretary of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), and seized a huge quantity of arms and bullets. A carbine, an automatic rifle, a foreign pistol and 23 bullets along with two mobile phones have been recovered from the arrested criminals.
Identification of supplier and liner
The arrested criminals were identified as Mohammad Faisal alias Taufik, son of Samsul Houda, resident of Takiya Bankat village of Nagar police station area, while Late, resident of Sahebchak village of Liner Mirganj police station area. He has been cast as Deepak Upadhyay, son of Shivshankar Upadhyay. SP Swarna Prabhat said that in the murder of Abdul Salam alias Aslam Mukhiya, which took place near Turkaha bridge of Nagar police station area on February 12, the weapon was supplied by Mohammad Faisal alias Taufik, while Deepak Upadhyay along with the shooters in the murder. When Deepak Upadhyay was arrested with a foreign pistol, on his information Mohammad Faisal alias Taufik was arrested, from whom a carbine and an automatic rifle were found. SP said that both the criminals have criminal history. Six cases including robbery and Arms Act are registered against Deepak in Mirganj and Hathua police stations.

After interrogating both the criminals, they were sent to jail on Saturday amid tight security. At the same time, the police is still conducting raids in search of other accused including the shooters.
