Good news: Kanpur IIT and CSA will now work on agricultural drones, farmers will get relief

Kanpur. After farming with robots, experts from Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology (CSA) and IIT Kanpur are preparing to test the soil, guard crops and spray pesticides with drones. It will be able to guard several hectares of area at the same time. An agreement may soon be signed between IIT and CSA regarding the project. Professor of Aerospace Engineering Department of IIT has inspected the university campus and farm house.

Robot trial going on

The team of Professor Visakh Bhattacharya of Mechanical Engineering Department of IIT and Professor SK Biswas of CSA has created a robot which can completely guard the fields. It is equipped with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technology. The sensors and cameras installed in it can detect any kind of diseases and enemy insects and send their reports directly to the server. There is also a facility to take samples of soil and water. The trial of the robot is going on in the villages of Kanpur and surrounding districts.

Research will be done in agriculture sector

Experts from both the institutes are going to develop technology in agriculture as well as do research work. With the help of drones, they will work on spraying water and pesticides. According to Vice Chancellor Dr. Anand Kumar Singh, after the MOU, seeds, water and pesticides will be sprayed in the fields. The sensors installed in drones will be developed in such a way that they will be able to detect the nutrients in the soil and plants. Accordingly, the drone will be able to spray micro nutrients, pesticides and water on them.

Drone will deliver seeds to farmers

According to CSA officials, there is a plan to provide seeds to the farmers with the help of drones. This has not happened anywhere yet. Experts will track the GPS location of the farmer’s mobile and deliver the seeds to him. If there is any problem in their fields or if samples of soil and plants need to be taken, then that too can be taken through drones.
