The Supreme Court has dismissed a PIL seeking quashing of the Centre’s September 15, 2021 decision granting relief to the stressed telecom sector from paying adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues. The court said that these are all policy matters and decisions should be taken on the basis of expert opinion. Providing relief to telecom companies struggling to pay Rs 93,520 crore of dues related to adjusted gross revenue, the Supreme Court on September 1, 2020 had given them 10 years time to clear the dues.
