Good Friday 2024: Ranchi-Good Friday worship took place at Loyala Ground on Friday. The main celebrant in this service which started at 4:30 pm was Archbishop Vicente Ayand. In his sermon during the service, the Archbishop said that for us Christians, Good Friday is a day to give thanks to Jesus. Thank you because He offered Himself on the cross in place of us all. Before this, the priests completed the rituals of today’s ceremony. Father Anand David and other priests, Saint Albert’s Father and a large number of common believers were present on the occasion.
God is almighty, nothing is impossible for him
The question is why did Jesus accept to suffer to pay the price for our sins? Jesus had taken away the sins of many people with His words, so couldn’t He do the same for the entire human race? God is almighty and nothing is impossible for him. The answer is God is love. God does not interfere in man’s business and hence He did not break His law, but out of love He came to this earth in the form of man or rather, in the incarnation of man. Mankind fell prey to the original sin because of Adam and Eve’s eating of the forbidden fruit at the instigation of Satan. Then God gave birth to Jesus from the immaculate virgin mother Mary, who is pregnant by the Holy Spirit.
Today is the day of victory/liberation
After the birth of Jesus, Satan tries to kill him. Ultimately he succeeds in killing Jesus by crucifixion, but even after Jesus’ death he wins over Satan. Therefore we can say that today is the day of victory/liberation. Through his death on the cross Jesus has freed us all from the slavery of sin. He has also made all of us entitled to enter the same eternal life into which He has entered, if we follow His path.
