A day after the announcement of victory of Samajwadi Party candidate Sudhakar Singh in the Ghosi assembly by-election on Friday (September 8), SP leader and former MLC Udayveer Singh, while talking to the media on Sunday, said that the by-election in Ghosi will be held in INDI A. It was a test for unity. And “the result of the by-election has given hope that the India Alliance will defeat the ruling BJP at the Center in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Singh said, “The Ghosi by-election assembly seat election was something which the entire country was watching. Even though in six states By-elections were held at seven different places, but the most important among them was the by-election in Ghosi. The by-election in Ghosi was a test, because many leaders of our parties had left and many had joined the BJP.

Opposition hopes for Ghosi’s victory

The SP leader further said, “Lok Sabha elections will be held next year, and if an alliance has performed well in the Ghosi bypoll, chances are high that it will do even better in Uttar Pradesh and the country. Just as the Samajwadi Party has done well under the alliance, We have registered our victory by a huge margin, its result has given hope to everyone. We are going to do even better in the upcoming elections.” Attacking the BJP, he said that the central government was using various agencies for its own benefit. “By using the central agencies, the BJP is preventing rival parties from contesting the elections.”

India A. first election after formation

It is noteworthy that voting for by-elections was held on September 5 for seven assembly seats in six states. The results were declared on 8 September. The opposition won four seats including Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh, Dumri in Jharkhand, Dhupguri in West Bengal and Puthuppalli in Kerala. BJP won two seats in Tripura and one seat in Uttarakhand. Sudhakar will benefit from anger against Dara Singh

The upset in the Ghosi by-election has far-reaching consequences. After giving its decision, the voters told all the parties that they will give priority to the local ones. With elections being held four times from 2017 to 2023, voters started feeling cheated. This time the public did not like Dara Singh’s resignation from SP and joining BJP. Dara Singh had won the election a year ago on Samajwadi Party ticket. In such a situation, Dara Singh lost his credibility among the voters. Samajwadi Party also presented his entire image before the people as a turncoat and outsider. Along with this, regarding its candidate, SP has impressed upon the people that Sudhakar Singh is a local resident and has been a worker of the same party for four decades. It is being said that the effect of local-versus-outsider slogan is that compared to the last 2020 elections, this time the voter turnout was six percent less, at 50.30 percent.
