Ghaziabad : The Yogi government may soon start the work of 2 metro projects in Ghaziabad. This project can be started from Vaishali to Mohan Nagar and from Noida Sector-62 to Vasundhara Cut. In this regard, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya had lobbied and assured to provide financial help when he had recently visited Ghaziabad. There is a delay in getting funds from the government, if things go well, two metro projects can be started in the district this year.

Actually, there are Lok Sabha elections next year. In such a situation, there is every possibility that the government will seal the funding for the metro project in order to give the right shape to the election strategy. However, the good thing is that the file providing funds has been moved forward in the Urban Housing and Planning section of the UP government. A meeting has been called by the government regarding the metro project.

Additional Chief Secretary will hold a meeting on May 2

The government has called a meeting of officials regarding this metro project on May 2. Additional Chief Secretary Housing Nitin Ramesh will preside over the meeting. Along with this, officers of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation including Ghaziabad Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, UPSIDC will also attend this meeting. Giving information on this, Vice President of GDA, Rakesh Kumar Singh said that no option other than Metro will prove correct on this route. That’s why the proposal of metro project was passed in the last board meeting on this route.

What is the cost of metro project?

A cost of 1808.22 crore has been proposed in the project from Vaishali to Mohan Nagar. On the other hand, the proposed cost for Noida Sector 62 to Vasundhara Cut is Rs 1517 crore. 50 percent contribution from the government on behalf of GDA means that the proposed total cost of both the projects is Rs. 1662.61 crores out of Rs. 3325.22 crores.

But the government refused to provide funds due to the ongoing metro projects in Kanpur, Lucknow, Agra and other cities and the rapid rail project in NCR due to the huge expenditure. However, now after the assurance of the Deputy CM, the possibility of getting the fund approved has increased.
