Ranchi: Notorious criminal Chhotu Rangsaaj of Garhwa, who had come to shop in the textile market located near the Urdu Library of Daily Market police station area of Ranchi, was shot dead. The incident occurred at 3.15 pm on Saturday. After committing the incident, two criminals riding a bike ran away from there waving weapons. On receiving information about the incident, the police took the injured Chhotu to Raj Hospital. The doctors there declared the condition serious and referred him to RIMS. When taken to RIMS, the doctor declared Chhotu dead.
Came with wife for shopping during Ramzan
After receiving information about the incident, several police officers including the City SP reached there for investigation and took information about the incident from Salma, wife of Chhotu Rangsaaj. Salma told that she lives with Chhotu Rangsaaj and her children in Maulana Azad Colony of Namkum police station area. On Saturday, she along with her sister and Chhotu Rangsaaz had gone on bike for shopping for Ramzan. As soon as Chhotu started the bike to go back after shopping. During this time the criminals shot him. Chhotu Rangsaaj was hit by one bullet in the stomach and the other in the neck.
Both the criminals are from Palamu district
Salma has identified one of the criminals involved in the incident as Mintu and the other as Shabbir. Both the criminals are originally residents of Palamu district. Mintu was currently living by building a house in Ratu police station area. In the initial investigation, the police have received information that Chhotu theater artist lived in Maulana Azad Colony by changing his name. He changed his name to Baijuddin and used to work as a bed-roller. Police have received information on this point in the initial investigation that both the criminals have committed the incident due to mutual rivalry and fight for supremacy. The police team has started raids in search of criminals.
Chhotu Rangsaaz was one of the top most criminals of Garhwa.
Chhotu artist’s name was also Reyazuddin artist. He was a resident of Uchari of Garhwa police station area of Garhwa district. In the police records, Chhotu Rangsaaj was at number one in the list of top 10 criminals out on bail in Garhwa district. There were 26 cases registered against him in Garhwa and Ranka police stations of Garhwa district.
Even before the murder incident, the police had taken out a flag march in the area.

The police went to the main road, Hanuman Mandir, various areas of Hindpiri police station area and Church Road of Lower Bazaar police station area and other areas while carrying out flag march. After the flag march, the police team was on alert in the main road before the incident. But despite this the criminals escaped after committing the incident.

Ranchi City SP Rajkumar Mehta said that the criminals involved in the incident have been identified by the wife of the deceased. Chhotu Rangsaaj has a criminal history. The incident of murder has been committed due to mutual enmity.
