G20 Summit 2023: The G-20 summit under the chairmanship of India is starting from Saturday in New Delhi. Global challenges will be discussed in this two-day conference. The broad agenda of the conference will revolve around ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – One Earth, One Family, One Future. India said that the ‘New Delhi Leaders Declaration’ will become the voice of the Global South and developing countries. The term ‘Global South’ is generally used to refer to less developed countries economically. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence that the G20 summit will pave a new way towards human-centred and inclusive development.

On the possibility of inclusion of African Union in G20, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said that an appropriate decision will be taken on this in the conference.

Modi will hold more than 15 bilateral meetings in three days

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold more than 15 bilateral meetings with various world leaders coming to participate in the G20 summit. Apart from participating in G-20 programs on Saturday, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of Britain, Japan, Germany and Italy. Modi will have a lunch meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday. The Prime Minister will also hold a meeting with his Canadian counterpart.

Modi-Hasina talks: India-Bangladesh connectivity will increase

A day before the G20 summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held talks with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on diversifying bilateral cooperation and discussed issues like connectivity and commercial links. In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Modi said he had fruitful discussions with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Modi said that the progress in India-Bangladesh relations in the last nine years has been very pleasant. We had discussions on connectivity, commercial engagement and other issues. The PMO said that Prime Minister Modi had fruitful talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on diversifying India-Bangladesh bilateral cooperation. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday expressed hope that India’s presidency of the G20 will be effective in bringing such revolutionary changes, which the world is eagerly waiting for. He also cautioned against growing division and diminishing trust in a divided world. A day before the summit, he said the motto ‘One Earth, One Family and One Future’ adopted by India as the theme of the G20 is inspired by the Maha Upanishads and has resonance in today’s world. Guterres said I am hopeful that India’s G20 presidency will help drive the kind of revolutionary change our world so desperately needs, driven by India’s repeated commitments to act on behalf of the ‘Global South’. And are in line with its determination to carry forward the developmental agenda. Guterres described India as a ‘very important’ partner in the multilateral system.

The world should be vocal against terrorism

Guterres said that terrorism cannot be justified at all and now the time has come for the international system to seriously combat it. Guterres also said that India naturally has its own concerns regarding this threat.
