Due to Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti Yojana, the construction work of four lane road from Patna to Sasaram is about to start. People of many districts are going to benefit from this. NHAI regional officer Avadhesh Kumar has said that the approval for Patna-Ara-Sasaram greenfield fourlane road has been received from the Network Planning Group of the Central Government. 74 km road will be constructed in the first phase. The tender process for this has started. Let us tell you that a four-lane bridge will also be constructed on the Son river. It will pass through the southern part of Bhojpur district without going to Ara city.

People of many districts will benefit

People of many districts are going to benefit from the construction of road from Patna to Ara. The roads to the capital including Arwal, Bhojpur, Sasaram and Rohtas will be connected to it. People of Naubatpur, Arwal, Sahar, Nokha, Hasan Bazar, Sanjhauli and Peers will benefit from it. There will be facility to go from Patna to Varanasi via Arwal, Bhojpur, Sasaram and Rohtas. Road is to be constructed from NH-131G. After this, a bridge will be built on Son river from the south side of Patna next to Ghodatap. 74 km road will be constructed in the first phase. At the same time, 45.5 km road will be constructed in the second phase.

Approval was received recently

For the construction work of four lane road, 550 hectares of land will be acquired for Rs 760 crore. A 2.3 kilometer long bridge will be built on the Son river. The state’s much awaited NH project Patna-Ara-Sasaram NH-119A four lane will be constructed under PM Gati Shakti Yojana. Recently its approval was received. Now this NH project is likely to get financial approval from the Central Government this week. After this, the process of selection of construction agency will start through tender. With the construction of this road, people of Patna, Bhojpur, Buxar, Arwal, Aurangabad and Rohtas districts will get convenience in transportation. According to sources, this NH of about 118 km length is likely to be constructed at the end of this year or the beginning of the new year at a cost of about Rs 4,000 crore. Also, its construction is likely to be completed by 2026. By making this NH four lane, it will be connected to Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow and Delhi through Purvanchal Expressway and on the other hand, Kolkata will get new connectivity from Delhi. At present the land acquisition of this road is in the final stage.

About three kilometer long four lane bridge will be built on Son river between Arwal and Bhojpur in Patna-Ara-Sasaram NH119A. This NH will pass outside Ara city. After this, vehicles going to Patna from the southern part of Bhojpur district will go towards Patna without passing through Arrah city. This NH will reach Sasaram from Patna via Gonwan, Padri, Ramtari, Kayamnagar, Bampali, Asni, Garhni, Udwantnagar, Taradi in Bhojpur district, Gangauli in Buxar district, Akhori Gola, Suara in Sasaram district.

The problem of land acquisition is a hindrance in increasing the width.

According to sources, the problem of land acquisition is a major obstacle in increasing the width of roads in the state. Due to this, projects get hampered right from getting approval to construction. In such a situation, construction takes more than double the scheduled time. Besides, the cost of projects also increases.

Length of single lane SH is about 389 km.

By September 2022, the length of two-lane SH in the state is about 2588 km. This is about 71.1 percent of the total SH length. At the same time, the length of single lane SH is about 389 km. This is about 10.7 percent of total SH. One and a half lane SH is 358 km i.e. about 9.8 percent. Along with this, among the main district roads, the longest length is one and a half lane roads. Their length is about 7279 km. This is 46.5 percent of the total main district roads. After this, the length of single lane main district roads is about 5531 km. This is 35.4 percent. The length of two-lane district roads is about 2507 km, which is about 16 percent.
