Fire breaks out in railway department warehouse in Sahibganj, loss estimated at Rs 50 lakh

Amit Singh, Sahibganj: A cable kept in the store of the Railway Signal and Telecommunication Department near the road leading to the warehouse next to the railway station of Sahibganj city caught fire. The fire broke out around 11:15 pm on Tuesday afternoon and within no time the fire took a huge form. A woman living in the railway quarters informed the railway officials about the fire. As soon as the news of the fire reached the railway officials and employees, there was panic among them. Railway officials informed the fire department about the fire. As soon as the information about the matter was received, the fire brigade personnel reached the spot with two fire engines and started extinguishing the fire. Meanwhile, Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer Angar Nath Swarnkar and Sadar BDO Subodh Kumar also reached the spot and took information about the matter and gave directions to the police personnel and fire brigade personnel. Seeing the black smoke in the sky due to the fire, thousands of people of the city reached the spot and were curious to know about where the fire started, how it started, what is the situation.

A large quantity of railway cable wire kept in the store was destroyed.

A huge quantity of cables were kept in the store of Signal and Telecommunication Department of Sahibganj Railway. According to information received from departmental sources, it is estimated that 25 to 30 tonnes of cable wire will be burnt to ashes. According to departmental sources, railway cable wire worth about Rs 50 lakh was burnt to ashes in the fire incident.

SDO said the fire will be controlled soon

Sadar SDO Angar Nath Swarnakar climbed on the fire engine to know the situation of the fire closely and encouraged the fire brigade personnel engaged in extinguishing the fire. He said that the fire will be controlled soon.
