FIH Olympic Qualifiers 2024: Questions raised on Indian women’s hockey team after defeat

Did not get a medal in Tokyo Olympics, but by finishing fourth, the Indian women’s hockey team became the eyes of the entire country. Everyone hoped that Tokyo’s unfulfilled dream would be fulfilled in Paris, but the journey to Paris ended before it even started and now this wound will take years to heal. Repeating the same mistakes again and again, lack of mutual coordination, inconsistency in performance are many questions which the Indian women’s hockey team will have to answer. After failing to qualify for the Paris Olympics, now uncertainty about the future is clearly visible in the eyes of the players. If we analyze the performance of the Indian team in the last few years, it lost 0-1 to Japan in the third place match in the FIH Olympic Qualifier, then it seems that this was bound to happen.
