Farmers waiting for crop damage amount

In the financial year 2022-23, in Muzaffarpur, Gaya, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Shivhar and Rohtas districts, irrigated and non-irrigated and perennial crops on a total of 54 thousand 22 hectares have been destroyed due to hailstorm and storm. Farmers of 299 panchayats of these six districts have suffered huge economic loss. Rs 92 crore has been allocated by the government for crop damage. The date of application for the amount of crop damage has not yet been fixed by the Agriculture Department. Farmers of 299 Panchayats are waiting to get the amount for crop damage.

Assessment of crop loss of Rs 92 crore two lakh

The agriculture department has assessed crop damage worth Rs 92 crore two lakh 31 thousand in six districts of the state. In Muzaffarpur, crop damage has been estimated to the tune of Rs 73 crore 37 lakh 90 thousand four hundred. Whereas, two crore four lakh 22 thousand one hundred in Gaya, four crore 41 lakh 26 thousand in East Champaran have been destroyed. Crops worth Rs 5 crore 88 lakh 37 thousand in Sitamarhi, Rs 5 crore 76 lakh 32 thousand five hundred in Shivhar and Rs 54 lakh 23 thousand have been destroyed in Rohtas.

Damage to ready crops planted in 53 thousand hectares

Hailstorm and storm have ruined the ready crops planted in 53 thousand 504 hectares in different districts of Bihar. At the same time, unirrigated crops planted in 71 thousand hectares have also been destroyed. The crop planted in 54 thousand 22 hectare including irrigated, non-irrigated and perennial has been destroyed. Maximum 43028 hectare in Muzaffarpur, 1201.30 in Gaya, 2458 in East Champaran, 3461 in Sitamarhi, 3037 in Shivhar and 319 hectare in Rohtas irrigated crops have been damaged. At the same time, non-irrigated crop grown on 71 hectares in Shivhar has also been damaged. In Muzaffarpur, 102.6 hectares, 104 hectares in East Champaran and 240 hectares in Shivhar have been damaged. Out-of-season crops planted in a total of 446.56 hectares have been destroyed.

17 thousand will be given per hectare for wasted irrigated crop.

8500 rupees per hectare will be provided by the Agriculture Department for the wasted non-irrigated crop. At the same time, 17 thousand rupees per hectare will be given to the farmers by the department for the wasted irrigated crop.
