Explainer: Nexon has been a game-changer for Tata Motors, what to expect from the facelift

New Delhi : Nexon has been a game-changer for Tata Motors, the automotive company making affordable cars in India. It is the company’s bestseller car with sales of more than five lakh units in the car market. The automaker has been updating the Nexon with facelifts or special editions over the year and the company has truly done a good job on the subcompact SUV. Now, the company is ready for its third update. Tata calls it a new generation car. It says this because the 2023 Tata Nexon facelift gets a comprehensive redesign and a new cabin, but the engine remains the same and so does the platform with its famous global 5-star safety rating. Then the question arises, what are these updates and do they make any difference to you? Come, let’s know about it…

Tata Nexon Facelift: Comprehensive redesign

There have been extensive changes in the design and features of the new Nexon. It is still based on the X1 platform, which has a connection to the popular Indica. It is not an exaggeration to say that the Nexon will get a new design theme before all the new Tata models arrive in future. If you have seen the Curve concept, it will look similar too. It does not have a clear grill. This means that Tata is bringing a more centralized design theme to its cars. Whether it is EV or ICE. Going forward, you can expect to see more familiar styling materials on these cars.

Tata Nexon facelift: bonnet and beltline

According to media reports, the haunches on the Tata Nexon facelift bonnet are quite attractive and they give a good masculine appeal. Plus, you get to know where the sides of the car are best from the driver’s seat. The LED DRLs look very futuristic and they also act as turn indicators. The headlamp unit is a split set-up and is more compact than before. Apart from this, it has a new beltline, which gives the impression of a longer car. At the same time, there are new alloy wheels with aero inserts, which can be shared with the upcoming Nexon EV facelift. The rear also gets a new design with new X-themed LED taillights, which are joined by a light bar on the tailgate. There are a lot of angular lines on the new bumper and tailgate, which makes for a busy design overall. The signature raked windscreen remains the same, but the Nexon now gets a longer roof spoiler for better aerodynamics. Apart from the visual upgrades, the Nexon has been introduced in new colors including Fearless Purple, which is sure to grab attention.

You have a three-phase unit with black plastic on top, carbon-fibre finish in the center and leather-clad bottom. It has also been dressed in purple on the purple exterior shade, which also extends to the seats and door pads. The plastics are nice and sturdy. Tata Nexon Facelift: Tech Glory

The cabin of the Nexon has not only seen an aesthetic upgrade, but it is also much more tech-friendly. It comes with two new displays. There are two new 10.25 inch digital screens. One is for the instrument console and the other is for the infotainment unit. This has been seen before on the Nexon EV Max Dark Edition, but the bezels are thin. Therefore it looks much more modern. Both these units come with the new UI. They are very easy to use. The graphics are nice and crisp and the colors look equally good. The new digital console will also show navigation maps like in luxury cars and the feature is certainly impressive. Overall there are fewer buttons in the cabin and the HVAC controls have also been replaced with a touch-based panel at the bottom. You only get 2 toggle switches. In this, one is for AC temperature and the other for blower speed. This feature looks premium.
