expansion of ayushman bharat

In the ongoing Ayushman Bhava campaign across the country, more than five crore people have opened Abha (Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts) accounts. In this campaign, Ayushman Arogya Mandir fairs and community health center fairs are being organized. Till now, more than 11 crore people have participated in 13.8 lakh fairs. It is noteworthy that under Ayushman Bharat Insurance Scheme, poor families are given insurance protection for treatment up to Rs 5 lakh annually. More than 50 crore people come under the scope of this scheme of the Central Government. It is also the world’s largest universal insurance scheme. Good lifestyle and periodic checkups play a fundamental role in staying healthy. Many diseases start developing due to not doing yoga, exercise, sports etc. There are many people who ignore the initial symptoms of diseases and later become seriously ill. Special attention has been given to these aspects in the National Health Policy. That is why in Ayushman Arogya Mandir fairs and Community Health Center fairs, only information about health related programs and schemes of the government is not being given or accounts are not being opened in insurance schemes.

In these events, there are also arrangements for yoga-meditation camps, consultation with expert doctors through computers etc. Free medicines have been provided to approximately 6.40 crore people. Similarly, medical examination of several crore people has been done. These events have also increased the facilities and resources at the health centres, which will prove useful to the people later also. Many women in our country die during pregnancy or childbirth. To ensure good health of mother and child, it is important to start consulting a doctor as soon as you get to know that you are pregnant. Lakhs of mothers and children have been seen in these fairs. It is also noteworthy that there is arrangement for surgery in these events and people are benefiting from it. Many states and union territories have also increased the number of beneficiaries and services of Ayushman Bharat Scheme at their own expense. Till December 2023, 28.45 crore Ayushman Bharat cards have been issued, out of which more than nine crore cards were made last year. It can be estimated from this figure that after seeing the benefits of the scheme, people’s confidence in it has increased. Appropriate action is also taken against those hospitals which are found involved in any irregularities or corruption. This scheme has proved to be a lifesaver for the beneficiaries.
