Excise Policy Case: Manish Sisodia will remain in jail, no relief from High Court, bail plea rejected

Delhi Excise Policy Case: Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia has not got relief from the Delhi High Court. The court has rejected Manish Sisodia’s bail plea in the money laundering case related to excise policy. Along with Sisodia, the court has also rejected the bail pleas of general leader Vijay Nair, businessman Abhishek Boinapalli and Binoy Babu. Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma, while giving the verdict on the petition, said that he is not entitled to bail at present.

Bail was not found even in the CBI case
Along with ED, CBI has also arrested Manish Sisodia. In protest against the arrest of CBI, Sisodia had applied for bail from the court, but the High Court refused to grant him bail even on May 30 in the CBI case. Sisodia was first arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26 for his alleged role in the scam and has been in custody since then.

Sisodia has sought bail on this basis
All these are co-accused in the money laundering case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The Delhi government implemented the policy on 17 November 2021, but it was withdrawn at the end of September 2022 amid allegations of corruption. Recently, in view of his wife’s illness, Sisodia was granted bail for a few hours by the court. Significantly, Sisodia has sought bail on various grounds, including the deteriorating health of his wife, who is suffering from multiple sclerosis.
