EWS children in Jharkhand will also get a chance to study abroad, the government is preparing a road map

The state government also wants to send meritorious students from the economically weaker sections (EWS) abroad for higher education. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed to expand the ‘Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship Scheme’. Under the scheme, the state government bears the entire cost of going abroad for higher education to the meritorious students of ST, SC, backward and minority classes.

The scheme is being operated by the Welfare Department. There is a provision of not giving the benefits of the schemes of the welfare department to the general category people. In such a situation, instructions have been given to the department to prepare a road map for how the EWS can get its benefits.

After the Chief Minister instructed to expand the Overseas Scholarship Scheme, discussions are being held on sending economically weaker sections abroad for higher education. Through the Social Welfare and Education Department, a plan is being made for how the general category students of EWS category will get the benefit of the scheme.
