EPFO: Employees Provident Fund Organization (epfo) has extended the deadline for employers to upload salary details of employees opting for higher pension in its database till May 31. Giving this information in a statement, the Labor Ministry said that the Chairman of the Central Board of Trustees of EPFO has decided to extend the deadline for employers to upload the relevant details. Earlier, employers were given time till December 31, 2023, to upload the salary details of employees who opted for higher pension on higher contribution. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization had provided an online facility to all its subscribers to submit applications for opting for higher pension at higher contribution/combined option. Under the Supreme Court order dated November 4, 2022, EPFO had offered higher pension option to eligible pensioners/EPFO members. The online application facility was started on February 26, 2023, which was extended twice till July 11. During this period, 17.49 lakh applications were received from pensioners and existing employees to opt for more pension. After this, employers were given time till September 30 to upload the salary details of their interested employees. Later it was extended till 31 December.

According to the statement of the Labor Ministry, this facility for pensioners/members was started on February 26, 2023. Under this, the last date for submission of applications was May 3, 2023. However, later considering the request of the employees, the deadline for submitting applications for higher pension was extended till June 26, 2023. Eligible pensioners/members were given a last opportunity of 15 days to remove any difficulties faced by them. Under this, the last date for submission of applications for verification of option/joint option to the employees was extended till July 11, 2023.
