Encounter continues between security forces and police in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. The operation to eliminate terrorists from the dense forest area of Anantnag district continues for the fifth day on Sunday. The help of drones and helicopters is being taken in this campaign.
Officials said that drones and helicopters have been deployed to locate the hideouts of terrorists in Gadole forests in Kokernag area of South Kashmir district.
He said that as the attack resumed on Sunday, the fifth day of the encounter, the security forces fired several mortar shells towards the forest.
Drone footage showed a terrorist running for cover after firing shells at a cave on Friday. Additional Director General of Police (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar said late on Friday night that the operation was carried out following specific information and claimed, “Two to three trapped terrorists will be brought under control.” PTI
Colonel Manpreet Singh, Commanding Officer of Army’s 19 Rashtriya Rifles unit, Major Ashish Dhochak, Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhatt and another Army soldier were martyred in the encounter with terrorists on Wednesday morning.
Army Northern Command Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday reviewed the operational preparedness near the encounter site in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. This encounter has been going on for five days.
Army officials briefed Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi about the high priority operations in which high-technology equipment is being used by the forces.
Three security force officers and one soldier have been martyred in the encounter in Anantnag. Officials said that drones and helicopters have been deployed to locate the hideouts of terrorists in Gadole forests in Kokernag area of South Kashmir district.
