Emphasis on use of artificial intelligence and new technology in traditional medicine, said Mandaviya

Representatives of 75 countries brainstormed for two days in Gandhinagar to increase the use of traditional medicine globally and to ensure access to affordable and quality healthcare to the common people. In the first Global Traditional Medicine Summit, experts, health ministers and senior representatives discussed the research and challenges in traditional medicine practices of other countries of the world. Giving information about the two-day conference, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the outcome of the discussion on various topics during this period will help in deciding the direction of the work of the Global Center for Traditional Center and also the World Health Organization’s Convention on Traditional Medicine. It will also be used in the strategic document being prepared for the year 2025-34.

The document of Gujarat Manifesto was discussed in detail in the summit. Additional Director General of World Health Organization Dr. Bruce and Secretary of AYUSH said that the draft will be released soon. He said that the initial results of the third global survey being conducted by the World Health Organization for traditional medicine was also informed in the conference and the final results of the survey would be released in November.

The preliminary result of the survey shows that out of 157 member countries participating in the survey, 97 countries have formulated a national policy regarding traditional medicine. In this two-day summit, the possibilities of using Artificial Intelligence in the field of traditional medicine were discussed. Also, to make the world healthy, special emphasis was laid on linking traditional medicine with modern medicine. Promotion of digital health was discussed in the conference and food made of coarse grains was served to the guests. On the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the world is celebrating International Shree Anna Varsh.

Strategy made to deal with future health challenges in the meeting of G-20 Health Ministers

The current health needs and challenges at the global level were discussed at the G-20 Health Ministers’ Conference. It was decided in the meeting that taking lessons from the Corona epidemic, the world needs to adopt a sustainable and holistic health system so that future health challenges can be faced. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring access to affordable and quality healthcare, availability of affordable medicines and vaccines in the developing countries of the world. In order to ensure the access of common people to health services, emphasis was laid on promoting digital health and making innovations so that everyone can be brought under the ambit of health services. Health challenges have increased due to environmental changes and the number of infectious diseases is likely to increase in the coming times.

Along with this, due to natural calamities, health related challenges will also come in front of the people. In such a situation, it was agreed in the meeting to develop a health service capable of dealing with environmental changes, to adopt environment-friendly treatment methods. In the meeting of Health Ministers, emphasis was laid on adopting factual traditional medicine.
