Electricity bill: The third phase of the lump sum settlement scheme will run till December 31, know when is the last date.

Lucknow : To solve the problems of electricity consumers and to settle the cases of theft and payment of their outstanding bills, the state government has started a one-time settlement scheme from 08 November. Till December 15, two phases of this scheme have been completed. In the two phases of OTS, 32.63 lakh consumers took advantage and this generated revenue of Rs 3300 crore. Consumers also benefited from rebate worth Rs 1120 crore. Even in cases of electricity theft, 69 thousand people took advantage of it. The third phase of OTS will run till 31 December. There is still time, consumers who have outstanding dues or incidents of electricity theft should get their problems resolved as soon as possible, the period of OTS will not be extended after December 31. Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma, while reviewing the OTS, RDSS and Business Plan at Shakti Bhawan on Saturday, gave instructions to give the benefits of the schemes to as many people as possible. The Minister said that after December 31, 2023, action will be taken against those consumers whose dues remain outstanding or whose electricity theft cases cannot be resolved. Instructed that efforts should also be made from the headquarters, discom, regional and district level offices for recovery from big defaulters.

Slow pace of planning in Mirzapur, Basti, Gonda

In the two phases of OTS, 9.30 lakh consumers in Purvanchal, 9.25 lakh in Madhyanchal, 07.13 lakh in Dakshinanchal, 07.12 lakh in Paschimanchal and 20 thousand consumers in Kesco took the benefit of exemption in surcharge by registering in OTS. Similarly, in case of electricity theft, 18 thousand people in Purvanchal, 11 thousand in Madhyanchal, 18 thousand in Dakshinanchal, 21 thousand in Paschimanchal and 1350 people in Kesko ended their cases by taking the benefit of OTS. The Energy Minister said that to ensure that the people of the state do not have to face electricity crisis in the coming summer, whatever necessary maintenance work should be completed on time. Expressed displeasure over the slow progress of the scheme works in Mirzapur, Basti, Gonda. Gave strict instructions to MD Purvanchal to take action against such executive institutions.
