Electric vehicle policy approved in Bihar, know how much discount you will get on buying bike-car

A total of 23 agendas were approved in the important meeting of Bihar Cabinet on Tuesday chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. In this meeting, Bihar Electronic Vehicle Policy 2023 has been approved by the Cabinet with the aim of improving air quality. After the cabinet meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Department, Dr. S. Siddharth said that under the new Bihar Electronic Vehicle Policy 2023, the state government has decided to give big discounts on the purchase of two-wheeler to four-wheeler vehicles. Under this policy, the government will now provide subsidy on purchase and registration of all types of vehicles including two-wheelers in the state.

Discounts on two wheelers

Under the provisions made for two-wheelers in the new policy, the government will give a subsidy of Rs 5,000 per vehicle on the purchase of the first 10,000 electronic two-wheelers in the state. Similarly, for Scheduled Castes and Tribes, this subsidy will be Rs 7500 per vehicle. Along with this, 75 percent subsidy will also be available in road tax. This discount will be given on the purchase of 10 thousand vehicles in the first installment on first come and first serve basis. Buyers will be given 50 percent subsidy on road tax on two-wheelers purchased after Rs. 10,000.

This much discount will be available on three wheeler and four wheeler vehicles

At the same time, 50 percent subsidy will be available on the purchase and registration of three-wheeler passenger vehicles. 50 percent discount will be given on the purchase of three-wheeler goods carrier. Similarly, on the purchase of first Rs. 1000 of a four-wheeler passenger vehicle, the government will give a subsidy of Rs. 10,000 per kilowatt and a maximum of Rs. 1.5 lakh to SC and ST category buyers. In this category, a maximum discount of Rs 1.25 lakh will be given to general category buyers.

Provision for exemption for heavy electric motor vehicles also

The policy also provides that service providers authorized under the Bihar Taxi Aggregator Operating Instructions 2019 shall have a minimum of 20 per cent electric four-wheelers for the first two years of the publication of the notification and 40 per cent electric four-wheelers by the end of the third year and 40 per cent electric four-wheelers by the end of the fourth year. 50% electric four-wheelers will have to be included in their fleet. A rebate of 50% in motor vehicle tax will be given in the purchase and registration of light electric motor vehicles (goods vehicles). A provision of up to 75% exemption in motor vehicle tax has been made for heavy electric motor vehicles (buses and goods vehicles). This discount will be available for two years, after which 50% concession will be available.

Subsidy even on opening charging station

Under the Bihar Electric Vehicle Policy, subsidy will also be given on the installation of charging stations in the state. For the first 300 AC chargers, 75 percent subsidy will be given on the purchase of each charger equipment and Rs. 25,000 subsidy will be given on installation. In this, maximum grant will be given up to Rs. 1.5 lakh. Similarly, for the first 300 DC chargers, 75% subsidy will be given on the purchase of each charger machine and Rs 25 thousand for installation and a maximum subsidy of Rs 1.5 lakh.

Service of 400 electric buses will be restored for six cities.

The Cabinet has approved the restoration of service of 400 electric buses under the PM e-Bus Seva Scheme in six major cities of the state, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga and Purnia. In this, 150 electric buses will operate in Patna city and 50-50 buses for all the remaining five cities. In this, 60% of the total amount will be borne by the Central Government and 40% by the State Government.

Vehicles older than 15 years will be scrapped.

The Cabinet approved the scrapping process of 15 year old government vehicles of all departments, boards, corporations and other offices of the state government through the registered vehicle scrapping facility. For this, scrapping of old vehicles will be done by conducting e-auction through MSTC portal.
